What we took from the EY FinTech Growth Programme

Six weeks of sessions in London ended with a showcase at Visa Europe’s headquarters on 22 October. The most valuable part of the programme was the mentoring.

On 22 October I presented Narrative at the showcase for the sixth EY FinTech Growth Programme, held at Visa Europe’s headquarters in London. The showcase closed six weeks of half-day sessions for a cohort of 24 fintech, data and cybersecurity companies, four of them Enterprise Ireland clients.

What the programme covered

The sessions worked through the questions a fintech faces as it scales: raising capital, regulation, leadership, partnerships, responsible use of AI and growth strategy. For an Irish company that sells to banks and lenders, the value lay in hearing how those questions play out in the UK market from people who have dealt with them directly.

The mentoring

The part of the programme that worked best was the one-to-one support. We were privileged to have Vinod Nainani as our mentor. It is rare to meet someone who combines such deep expertise with so much enthusiasm, and we came away with a great deal from his guidance.

The case we made on stage

At the showcase I made the case for deeper relationships in small business banking. Many owners now take their financial questions elsewhere, and a bank can only help with plans it hears about. Narrative Coach gives banks and lenders a way to hold that conversation inside their own app, working from the business’s own figures.

Thank you

Our thanks to Katja Woodworth and the EY team for running the programme, to Jack Mulcahy at Enterprise Ireland UK for pointing us towards it, and to the other founders in the cohort.

Talk to us about your small business customers.

We’ll show you Narrative Coach and talk through how it could work for your institution.
