We act as a data controller for personal data collected directly through our website and communications, and as a data processor when processing data on behalf of our clients who integrate our SDK or APIs.

2. Information we collect

We may collect and process the following types of data:

• Contact details (e.g., name, email, company, role) when you contact us or sign up for updates.
• Usage data about how you interact with our website or SDK.
• Technical data, including IP address, browser type, and system logs.
• Client data, when our Services are used to analyse financial or customer information (processed under client instructions only).
• Publicly available business information, such as the content of your business website and public listings, where you share a link or it can reasonably be associated with your business. Used to add context to your insights.

3. How we use your information

We use collected data to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our Services;
• Communicate with clients and respond to support requests;
• Ensure security and prevent misuse of the platform;
• Comply with legal obligations.

Public business information is used to enrich your business profile, understand what your business offers, and make recommendations more relevant. You can turn this off from Business Profile settings.

We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process personal data under the following legal bases:

• Contractual necessity: to deliver our Services to clients.
• Legitimate interests: to improve, secure, and promote our Services, and to use publicly available information about your business (such as your website and public listings) to personalise and improve the insights we generate for you. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, or object by contacting us.
• Consent: for analytics cookies on this website, and for marketing or communications (where required).
• Legal obligations: to comply with regulatory or tax requirements.

5. Data retention

We retain data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined above or to meet legal and contractual obligations. When data is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymised.

6. Data sharing

We may share data with trusted service providers (e.g., hosting, analytics, or email partners) who operate under strict confidentiality and data-protection agreements.

Data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) only to jurisdictions providing an adequate level of protection as recognised by the European Commission.

7. Your rights under GDPR

As a data subject, you have the right to:

• Access a copy of your personal data;
• Request correction or deletion of inaccurate or outdated data;
• Restrict or object to processing;
• Request data portability;

We employ appropriate technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data, including encryption, access controls, and regular audits.

9. Cookies and website analytics

This section covers the narrativebanking.com website. How Narrative Coach handles customer data is described separately, including on our Security and governance page.

Storage the website needs. We keep your cookie choice in your browser so that we do not ask on every page. When you open the contact form, we also remember for the rest of your visit which page you came from, and include it with your enquiry if you send one. Neither sets an analytics cookie.

Analytics, only with your consent. If you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand which pages and articles are visited, how far down a page visitors scroll, how much of the overview video is watched, which contact, email, documentation, app login and job application links are used, when the contact form is started, and whether an enquiry was sent, including the name of the page it started from. Google Analytics then sets two cookies: _ga, which distinguishes visitors, and _ga_ followed by an identifier, which keeps track of a visit. We set both to expire after 13 months. We have set Google Analytics to keep event-level data for 14 months, after which it is deleted; aggregated reports are kept. Google may transfer this data to the United States, relying on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as providing adequate protection.

We do not send your name, email address, organisation, the content of your messages or job applications, or any financial information to Google Analytics, and advertising features and Google signals are turned off. If you reject analytics, or do not make a choice, Google Analytics is not loaded and sets no cookies.

Changing your choice. Use Cookie settings at any time; the same link is at the foot of every page. If you withdraw consent, we stop analytics and remove the Google Analytics cookies from your browser. We ask again after six months.

10. Updates to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Updated versions will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
